What Is An Aphrodisiac Essential Oil And How Do They Work?

An aphrodisiac is an aroma, a feeling, a touch, a word, anything that induces the emotion of caring, love, and romance.  Essential oils have the potential to influence these feelings and are an excellent mood setter for romantic times.

How do Aromatic essential oils for romance work?

Oils have been used for centuries in aromatherapy, and the quickest way to benefit from them is by inhalation through the nose. It is because the nose has direct contact with the brain, and when you inhale the aroma, it goes directly to the Limbic System. More on that later, but once the Limbic system is stimulated the part of the brain where moods and emotions are governed are triggers for our emotional and physical responses. Aphrodisiac essential oils can invoke romantic feelings.

If you would like to blend your own from any of the choices above, or even if you have sensitive skin and need to dilute it more for your personal use, you would want to use organic Fractionated Coconut oil.

For ages, I use either doterra brand Fractionated oil, or a cold pressed, Hexane free, therapeutic grade oil by Ellie's Best, a USA based company

How To Use Essential Oils For Romance

You don’t have to use all the oils at once, nor do I suggest that. Choose one or two that you feel you would like, and blend them,.  Essential oils are about seventy-five percent stronger than the actual plant, and can quickly overtake you if you don’t use them sparingly.

My suggestion if you are new to oils is, to begin with, 1-2 drops the first time using them in any fashion. You can always add more about 20 minutes later if need be...but not before.

Always check your labels making sure it is Organic and only Certified Therapeutic Grade. Never ingest essential oils without consulting your medical provider first.

Don’t wait for the special occasions, use your oils often and in various ways to promote a loving atmosphere in your home.  If you need a special occasion mood setter such as a birthday or Valentine's Day, here are some great suggestions.

Diffusing Essential Oils For Romance

Here are my favorite oils to put in my diffuser. They promote a feeling of wellness, love, and good will to all.  Each has its own aroma, some clearly spark the romantic feelings as they waft through the air.

Jasmine oil, used for its flowery, intoxicating fragrance-great for romance. I have heard that it makes you feel like you are on a deserted tropical island.

Patchouli is a universal ingredient in perfumes. Mostly remember from the free love days of the hippies, you will either love it or hate it. Personally, I love it!

Rose Otto oil  has a unique aroma, almost like a wild Rose but it isn't quite as sweet.  Adding a drop to your shampoo, creme rinse, or after shower oil, or even a drop on each pillow will ignite intimacy feelings.

Sandalwood used primarily as a fragrance, for its pleasant, woody fragrance. I use it in replacement of chemically laden perfumes on the market today. They stay with you all day, making everyone around you feel good too.

Ylang Ylang essential oil is extracted from the flowers of a tall, tropical tree. It possesses aphrodisiac properties too and has traditionally been used for love and romance. In Indonesia, the flowers of ylang-ylang are laid out on the bed of the bride and the groom, in an attempt to stimulate passion. Also, oil is used as a tonic to help overcome sexual difficulties. Ylang ylang has a sweet, floral-balsamic aroma which is quite soft and creamy.

Romance Aroma Massage

How about a relaxing, sensual massage? You should always use an organic, therapeutic grade oil that doesn't contain added synthetic colors or harmful chemicals such as silicon, or preservatives like Parabens.

You can blend your own massage oil with the blends above, or buy it premixed. Some might not like one sent or the other so you can eliminate it.
